I found a cute house and got the paper out of the info tube. In the “Extras” section it says “Legal lot 22 in Land Subdivision.”

What does this mean? It’s in Shreveport, Louisiana, by the way.

I am getting married New Year’s Eve. I am trying to research local real estate listings for either a small house or a manufactured home with 2 bedrooms to rent in the Shreveport, LA metro area. My fiance and I prefer to live outside the city. I’ve tried the standard sites with no luck. Any suggestions?

Buy a cheap house or rent a nice apartment?

Pol-Enrico G asked:

I’m at a cross roads. For a while I’ve been thinking about not pissing money away every month and jumping into the market. The problem is that my income situation does not allow me to make house payments any larger than what I currently rent for +/- 100 bucks. I realize that in order for me to get into the market comfortably I’m looking at home prices <100K. Well, to no surprise the houses are old and dated and the neighborhoods are sketchy where I live (shreveport/bossier city, LA). For that same monthly payment I'm pissing away on rent, I live in a NICE apartment.

So my question is: is it a fair sentiment to consider that the opportunity cost of throwing away money on a nice apartment (and have a good QOL) is worth the equity not being built on a sketchy house worth less than 100K? I concede renting is worthless money-wise, but I cannot sift through the listings and look at these neighborhoods and feel as though it's worth my time when I can be renting a nice place and have QOL.

We might be moving to Shreveport, LA. I need more information on this city. What area do we need to stay away from, what area is a better area to find a rental house. What about the cities on the outskirts of Shreveport like Minden, etc. Any information will be greatly appreciated!

nsucollegekid asked:

I know there is a minimum and max income someone can have to live there (not United Jeweler’s though). I was wanting to see if I would be eligible.
I don’t want to call because I don’t want to move in until a long time from now. Has anyone been just looking around and happened to go by here and talk to them before and have a general idea? Thanks Again.

I have three small children and am interviewing for a job that would require me to relocate? I have posted this question here before about different areas and was happy with the results. I am interested in getting a little insight into the community, schools, crime, recreation, etc. Anyone who is familiar with the area I would greatly appreciate your input.
